Tomorrow, I go to court to fight the bogus ticket issued to me by one rookie “officer” J. Sheperd of the Overland Park Police Department. The fun begins at 3:00 pm.
So, since the time of the ticket, I have calmed down and, regrettably, lost interest in this whole debacle. I am not sure how tomorrow will pan out, but I suspect I will have to pay a $30 fine. You see, I opted not to hire an attorney and spend good money on fighting this, though it was my intention. I also did not subpoena the video, though I assure you that if I do lose, I will get a copy of it one way or another. I suspect the video won’t be presented in court tomorrow, as it will clearly not support the police officer’s stance.
Burden of proof is on the plantiff. We’ll see what it takes to satisfy that. My only hope is I can keep my cool well enough to not end up in jail for being in contempt of court! That’s a joke… I will remain calm, cool, and collected.
If I wanted this to drag a bit, I would ask for a continuance, since Nick (the driver) is out of town on vacation. However, I choose to get it over and see what happens.
