We are only a few days away now from the election. Thank God! I am so tired of this political season it isn’t even funny anymore. And yes, I am resigned to the fact that the next four (or more) years are going to be under a Democrat-controlled white house, congress, and senate. There is definitely good, and bad, in that.
Good… there will be no one to blame but the Democratic party for any “failures” that may arise. Though I am quite certain that come 2012, it will be all about how big of a mess the Republicans (W in particular) made.
Good… our nation will further prove that racism doesn’t exist to the extremes it once did. Certainly there is a long way to still go, but this definitely will be symbolic of some walls being torn down.
Good… perhaps a more positive feeling towards the US around the world will resurface, though it’s funny that people who “hate” us for what we are still want to be part of us.
Bad… if the agenda proposed gets pushed through, some businesses will definitely suffer, with the pain really felt by the consumer and (former) employees.
Bad… government will get bigger and more involved in our lives.
Bad… our nation’s defense will most certainly suffer and be shrunk, as is typical during democrat-controlled periods of time.
Nonetheless, I am one that does believe that the President doesn’t have as much “power” or responsibility for all the happenings that go on. Certainly he does get to pick judges, put forth budgets, etc., but ultimately, congress has to be the one to really make change.
Another good… maybe the Republican Party will wake up and figure things out before 2012. The party certainly needs a wake-up call, and boy oh boy are we about to get it.
Sad that the McCain/Palin ticket was the best we could put forward during this important election year. It definitely has been the year (plus) of the Democrats in the race… all beginning with the Clinton-Obama saga.
Anyway, life will go on and certainly some good will come out of it. Hopefully an Obama presidency will live up to the “hopes” and desires of those who so desperately support it.
Election night doesn’t even seem that interesting this year, sadly. If you believe in the polls (which though they aren’t always right, seem to be pretty lopsided right now), this should be a slam dunk for Obama-Biden.
Enough for now,

The only comment that I can make is Nov 5, 2008 and what ever day it is in January that the new president will take office… we will be blessed with another day because God is in control… not man
