The Big Dawg is 2

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

October 4, 2007.

Hoover Woodrow Elledge turned two today. Yep, my puppy is now in his terrible two’s! A teenager in dog years. I will upload some pictures next week of him, earlier if I get the chance, but we’re headed to the lake this weekend for a final trip. Supposed to be in the 90′s and upper 80′s… have to use the boat while we can, you know. We got him a doggie cake. The Murphys gave him the biggest bone I have ever seen… it is an outdoor bone. Next week, we’ll let him tear into it!

Hoover seems to be getting thicker now-a-days. His breeding mom says he’s probably done growing height wise but between two and three, he will thicken up a great deal. Will be interesting to see how big he gets. He’s going to get weighed on Monday, and groomed, since the exterminators will be here to kill some spiders. I hate spiders. Even around Halloween, I still hate them.

For Thanksgiving we will be driving to Casper, and I am, as of now, planning on transporting the two-year-old with us. That will make for an interesting trip, I think. But, he tells me he wants to see his grandparents and meet the Sophie and Maggie duo as well as the Towlie :)

Well, I am headed shortly to the doctor’s office for my consultation in the morning. Yes, as expected, my cholesterol and everything else that shouldn’t be high is high. I don’t even remember the scores and what all I have that is high, but nothing was even borderline; they were all HIGH. I’m really, in the back of my head, thinking that I should probably start chewing again. It’s when I stopped that I gained weight. Probably not a good idea; would be better to exercise (which I doubt I will) and eat healthier (sorry, I love steak). Probably going to have to meet with a nutritionist at the doc’s office (waste of time). They should either put me on the pills now, or start diggin my hole.

Now, if I would start officiating basketball again, I would exercise and lose weight. But, my schedule and all my travel doesn’t really allow me to do those kind of things. Hard to take game assignments then have to leave town on a moments notice.

Ok, so I have to get to bed. I’m tired.

Oh, over 60 people so far have RSVP’d for our Halloween Party. Ugh. That’s too many :) It will be quite the event this year. Only two weeks away from tomorrow!

Bulgaria and Sofia Office Pictures

Friday, September 14th, 2007

While I am too tired to write much, I did upload some pictures of Bulgaria (under Travel) and of the Aplus.Net Sofia Office (under Aplus) in the gallery.

I’m alive and well… tired, and hungry for some red meat. I will be heading to the hotel here in a few moments, get a night sleep and spend a few more hours in the office tomorrow. I leave at 1pm for the airport to catch a 2:35 pm flight to Heathrow, where I will rejoin with Gabe, Stephanie and Debbie. Stay one night in Hethrow then off to Houston and Kansas City on Sunday. Get back to KC I think at 6:30 or 8:30 on Sunday night… too tired to remember or look it up right now.

Sorry I missed Spencer’s first football game… he scored two touchdowns. Probably makes him like offense better than defense, which he used to play. His team lost, but sounds like he did well and Rebecca says he’s excited.

I wonder if Hoover will remember me….

That’s all for now.

Everything Happens for a Reason

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Sophie, the sometimes extremely evil dog, turned 6 today. She celebrated with a dog birthday cake from Land of Paws. Hoover enjoyed some of her cake as well. Pictures of both are available in the Photo Album.

Speaking of Hoover… I am trying to teach him to hug. This simply means sitting, followed by putting both his paws on my shoulders. Major problem with this… Hoover gets so excited at the prospect of getting his training reward (raw hotdogs) that he damn near tackles me. This is only day two of the training on this new “trick”. I’m sure my blackeye will go away in time.

Work…work…work. Seems like all I do anymore, but I love it. It’s crazy times right now, trying to move a company from San Diego to Overland Park Kansas. New hurdles and obstacles come my way daily. We’re a little behind schedule but contingency plans are being worked on. Regardless, my days of living in a corporate apartment in Sunny Dan Diego are coming close to an end. Sad part is there are quite a few people we really wanted to make the move from San Diego to the KC area to remain with the company, but they have choosen not to. Sucks really. Great people… hard to see them go. Everything happens for a reason, though, and I’m sure everyone will be better off in the long run.

I miss baseball. Wish I was working on getting schedules done, meeting with players, getting everything ready to go. My competitive spirit definitely has not diminished. I need an umpire to argue with. I need more political sull bhit to deal with. Oh wait, maybe I don’t miss it as much as I though. But, I do. Everything happens for a reason. I’m sure I will be better off in the long run???!!?

Mom and Dad are on a Hawaiian cruise right now. I should still be in Maui. Rebecca and I were supposed to be there now with Gabe and Stephanie. We should have met up with my parents while we were out there. Dad skipped an annual convention to coordinate the vacation while Rebecca and I would be in Maui. They went. We didn’t. Everything happens for a reason. I’m sure I will be better off in the long run….. Sorry ma and pa…. I will make it up to you, I promise.

So growing up, my best friend Shawn got remarried awhile back and now has a kid. Haven’t seen or talked to him in a long time. Haven’t seen the kiddo. Everything happens for a reason. You know what’s next.

ALERT: Ice Storm is a coming. Should arrive over night. Can’t wait…. to fly back to San Diego on Monday.

Hoover and I took a “walk” a little while ago. He and I are both dragging arse right now… because somewhere along the line Rebecca taught him to run instead of walk. He doesn’t realize how out of shape I am anymore. I think I am alergic to activity.

Need to get my cholesterol checked. Less than 2 months ago, it was 256. That’s not good… but everything happens for a reason, ya know. Trying to eat a bit healthier… tough to do when you don’t like anything without red meat in it. Tried lobster, though. First piece of seafood I have eaten in a dozen or more years… last time was shrimp at the Reinhart’s house in Casper… I doused it with ranch dressing. Still sucked.

Uh oh, Hoover has gas and he’s lying beside my desk as I ramble.

I wonder what Geno, Wharton, Callanan, Kelly, Shotty and the rest of the baseball gang are up to. Sometime I will find out.

Matty Snyder had a baby girl. Poor girl. J/k. I wonder what Matty is up to? Haven’t seen him or really heard from him since I got married in June. Great “kid” he is. Now my mind is wondering… wonder what Prentice is up to? Gansta BHill emailed me the other day… I still have it marked as unread so I will remember to email him back. Im such a slacker.

Aside from coaching, I miss reffin high school and college basketball. Havent done that since 1999. Wonder if I would even remember how. Well, sometimes I still work on the signals. Yeah, I would still be good at that. Did I say good? Hmm, maybe we should ask Coach Nolan if I was good. Course then I would have to ask him what his record is as the KW basketball coach. Can’t believe they resorted to him. Oh well, everything happens for a reason… right?

Ok, I’m tired of rambling. Time to get back to e-mails. Reading resumes. Oh, do you need a job???? Let me know!

Happy New Year. Buh bye for now.

Happy Holidays

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

It’s hard to believe Christmas is only a week away. What a year 2006 has been. I can only imagine what 2007 will hold.

Ok, so in January 2006, Rebecca and I went to Maui with Gabe and Stephanie. During that trip, I dropped the question to Rebecca, and once she got over her shock, she said yes.

Fast forward to June. On June 17, we got hitched in a wonderful ceremony with family and friends at the National in Kansas City. I remember most of the day… thanks to pictures! A few days after the wedding, we moved into our new home. Quite an upgrade from my first house, but I liked the old one, too. Within a week, I was on my way to Sofia, Bulgaria to meet with some people with APlus.Net, a company we were doing due dilligence on. The morning after I got back, it was off to Rebecca and my honeymoon at a Sandals resort in St. Lucia. That was the beginning of July, and until only a week or two ago, it was the only week Rebecca and I have spent together since we were wed.

By July 25th, I found myself in my next position in my career. Back to web hosting. I was appointed the Chief Operating Officer of a web hosting company with revenues about 4 times that of CommuniTech.Net. The company is based in San Diego, and since July 25, I have basically spent every working day in San Diego and most weekends back at home with Rebecca, Spencer and Hoover.

Now, we’re in the process of moving the company to Overland Park, KS. Move is scheduled for the first week in February, and though I have grown to be very fond of San Diego, I can’t wait to get back home with Rebecca, Spencer, Hoover and my friends. It’s been a long few months, but I am busy again and challenged.

It has definitely been an interesting year, and I look forward to the future. Need to address some health things in my life… my cholesterol level is through the roof. Don’t want to go on medicine for the rest of my life, so I need to revamp my eating habits (I knew I should have listened to mom about eating fish growing up) and get back to doing some exercise. I really miss coaching and officiating… at least when I was running up and down a basketball court I was staying in shape (along with being called a few choice words from some coaches and fans).

So, in 2007, I hope to get healthy again and maybe cut back on the filets in my life. Spend some time with the family, and maybe start one of our own. We’ve been anxious to do so, but with me being in San Diego all the time, well, you know….

So, two weeks left in 2006. Big party at the Elledge casa on New Years Eve. If you’re in KC for New Years, be sure to stop by and ring in the new year. I can’t wait! In 2007, Rebecca and I will return to Maui from Jan 6-13. In March, I will turn 35. Man, am I getting old. Hopefully we’ll have a kid in 2007, so maybe I won’t be in a nursing home by the time he (or she, sorry Rebecca) graduates high school. Yeah, I’m getting a late start, but better late than never.

Here’s to a prosperous 2007. Peace and love out to my family and friends. Oh, and hopefully 2007 will bring an end to the war in Iraq. Time for that thing to end. I can say I am proud of what has been accomplished over there, but I find it harder and harder to be on the Republican side with the lack of leadership we’ve seen. I hope things turn for the best and do so quick, because I can’t imagine living in the US with the second President Clinton. Oh man, that would suck.

Happy Holidays… Merry Christmas (I think it’s ok to say that again, Wal-Mart is)… and have a wonderful 2007.
